Reported Case for 2012-2013, 1st Quarter

The offspring of a PWGSC manager was listed as one of the resources a firm could use to perform work for the manager's unit pursuant to a Standing Offer. It was determined that the manager had not declared an apparent or potential conflict of interest.

Investigation established that the offspring had not in fact been utilized by the firm to meet PWGSC's requirements. While the manager was aware the offspring worked for the firm, the manager indicated being unaware that the offspring was included as a potential resource for the private firm.

Even if issues arise from situations outside an employee's control, an employee, who realizes that an apparent or potential conflict of interest may exist, must report the matter.

Corrective action has been taken.
