Dubliners: Photographs from the National Library of Ireland

Library and Archives Canada, in collaboration with the National Library of Ireland, is pleased to host Dubliners: Photographs from the National Library of Ireland. This exhibition is a unique photographic record of life in Dublin at the turn of the last century. The exhibition comprises the work of the talented Edwardian photographer, John J. Clarke (1879-1961) of Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan.

Celebrate 100 years of Canada's best-loved novel Anne of Green Gables. Rare archival documents, books from around the world, stamps, coins, and images from the stage and screen are proof of the enduring appeal of this fictional red-haired character.

The Portrait Gallery of Canada invites the public to view rare and unique masterworks of the portrait collection housed in climate-controlled Vault 34. A free shuttle bus will depart from Library and Archives Canada at 395 Wellington Street in downtown Ottawa.

World Inter-Action Mondiale presents its 19th annual film festival showcasing outstanding and compelling films and videos. Its mission is to screen and promote the use of film and video as a catalyst for public awareness and social change.

Healing Garden Music Fest

Tickets $17 in advance, $22 at the door, ($2 discount for seniors and students)

Terry Eagan and Patio Records present the fourth annual Healing Garden Music Fest, with host Jerri Southcott and master of ceremonies, Charlie Kitts. Proceeds will be donated to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation to care for the Mary Eagan Garden.

A Story to be Told: Personal Reflections on the Irish Immigrant Experience in Canada edited by M. Eleanor McGrath, photographs by William C. Smith, is a collection of stories about 130 Irish Immigrants to Canada. Forewords were written by The Right Honourable John Turner and Dr. G. FitzGerald, the former prime minister of Ireland.

The 20th annual Ottawa Storytelling Festival presents "A World of Difference." On Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, author Denise Chong presents a workshop on the process of turning history into narrative; storytelling sessions run from 1:30 to 5 p.m.; and a concert with stories, dances and poetry starts at 7:30 p.m. Sunday is Family Day, admission is free for teachers and families with children under 14.

A Biography of an Extraordinary Canadian
