Library and Archives Canada Presents the 2007 Governor General's Literary Award Winners Reading

Ottawa, December 4, 2007—Library and Archives Canada is proud to celebrate this year's Governor General's Literary Award winners with a public reading of their works. The Governor General's Literary Award Winners Reading 2007, presented in cooperation with the Canada Council for the Arts, will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at 7 p.m., in the auditorium of Library and Archives Canada, at 395 Wellington Street, Ottawa.

The masters of ceremonies for the evening will be Rita Celli, host of Ontario Today on CBC Radio One, 91.5 FM and Daniel Mathieu, host of Le monde selon Mathieu on La Première Chaîne de Radio-Canada, 90.7 FM.

"This evening's literary event provides an opportunity for the public to experience the works of these talented writers, translators and illustrators, in an intimate setting," said Ian E. Wilson, Librarian and Archivist of Canada. "It is truly inspiring to witness such creativity."

Admission to the Governor General's Literary Award Winners Reading is free of charge. There will be an autographing session at intermission. Biographical information and downloadable images of the winners are posted on the Canada Council for the Arts website at www.canadacouncil.ca/prizes/ggla.

Library and Archives Canada, whose primary mandate is to collect, preserve and make known Canada's rich documentary heritage, promotes excellence in Canadian literature. The Governor General's Literary Award Winners Reading is one of the highlights of its literary programs.
