Library and Archives Canada Pays Tribute to Oscar Peterson

(Ottawa) December 28, 2007 – In light of the recent passing of Oscar Peterson, Library and Archives Canada would like to pay homage to an outstanding musician and great Canadian. Library and Archives Canada is showcasing Mr. Peterson's accomplishments through a special website entitled, "Oscar Peterson: A Jazz Sensation" that features his biography, discography, personal manuscripts and more.

This website was developed to complement an exhibition which was on display in Ottawa and eventually traveled to Tokyo, Paris, London, Washington and Australia. Contemporary and past audio recordings of Oscar Peterson's music can be heard on this website.

Canadians are invited to learn more about Oscar Peterson, the Canadian jazz icon, by visiting Library and Archives Web site at www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/oscarpeterson/index-e.html.

Library and Archives Canada preserves the documentary heritage of Canada for the benefit of present and future generations by showcasing and celebrating Canada's very best.
