Introduction
"Search" allows you to search the vast resources of Library and Archives Canada (LAC). You can search all of LAC's described collection at once, or you can limit your search to an individual resource.
These resources include:
- Library Search provides options for searching the published materials held at LAC, but also those located in over 1,300 libraries across Canada.
- Archives Search provides options for searching descriptions of archival material in the holdings of LAC, which includes textual, photographic, iconographic, audio, philatelic, cartographic, architectural and other documents. References to material from the database of the Canadian Archival Information Network (CAIN) are also searchable.
- Ancestors Search provides options for search selected genealogical databases; many of them refer to LAC holdings. There are census, military, immigration and land records which are the most consulted by genealogists.
- Website Search provides the option for keyword searching of all the Web pages of the LAC site.
The search options are available on the navigation menu at the left.
