Responsible for the acquisition, integration and in-service support of a wide range of complex electronics, communications and weapon systems for Air, Land and Marine environments, including avionics systems, radar systems, sensors, underwater systems, trainers and simulators, electro-optical systems, land communications systems, biometrics and security and information operation systems. Major project activities include the SIRIUS Long Range Infrared Search and Track System, Canadian Cryptographic Modernization Project (CCMP), Combat Systems Engineering Support (CSES), Weapon Effects Simulation (WES), Advanced Lightweight Anti-Armour Weapon System (ALAWS) and the Company Area Suppression Weapon System (CASW).
EMTS also acquires large and small calibre weapons and ammunition, engineering services, repair and overhaul and maintenance services and spare parts to meet federal government and foreign government requirements. It is also responsible for the management of the Munitions Supply Program.
Responsible for planning, organizing and directing the Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) European office in Koblenz, Germany. This office carries out complex, high dollar value procurement activities for the acquisition and life cycle support of major weapon systems, primarily on behalf of Canadian army and navy requirements together with a significant level of activity on behalf of Canadian Commercial Corporation for the export of Canadian military products under government-to-government arrangements.
SIRIUS is a collaborative project between Canada and the Netherlands Navy. Following the successful conclusion of the development phase and sea trials, the two Navies are proceeding with the production phase, with Canada procuring 13 systems for the HALIFAX Class ships, and the Netherlands Navy procuring 4 systems for their Longitudinal Center of Flotation (LCF) ships. PWGSC will be the Contracting Authority for this joint procurement. SIRIUS operates in the infrared band, and will greatly enhance the anti-ship missile defence and littoral operations of ships, and will greatly enhance the situation awareness capability of both Navies.
Responsible for a variety of secure communications systems, TEMPEST equipment, military radio communication equipment, military optical sighting and ranging equipment, night vision equipment, C4ISR and electronic warfare procurement requirements across multiple client environments.

The aim of the Defence Message Handling System (DMHS) is to provide a comprehensive, secure and reliable message handling capability for both operational and management traffic at the Department of National Defence. This will be accomplished through the replacement of the current paper-based messaging correspondence system with a modern messaging capability using evolving information technologies and approved international standards.
The Government of Canada relies on Type 1 cryptographic equipment to protect both it's own classified information as well as information shared with its Allies. The CCMP will modernize Canada's use of cryptography to safeguard classified information and will maintain Canada's ability to establish secure communications nationally, with Allies and wherever Canadian military personnel are deployed.
In-service system engineering and software support for the Combat Systems of the Canadian Forces HALIFAX and IROQUOIS class ships and shore facilities. Each of the Combat Systems is a highly integrated and complex system utilizing several processors to control a suite of sensors and weapons within its Command and Control System (CCS).
This program provides an upgraded radar capability for the HALIFAX class ships.
A "live", laser and communication based, force-on-force training tool for the Canadian Army. WES will provide realistic simulation of the firing and engagement efforts of direct fire and area weapons and will provide timely feedback to units under training.

The objective of the Protected Military Satellite Communications (PMSC) project is to acquire guaranteed access to protected military satellite communications (MILSATCOM) for Canadian Forces anywhere in the world. The "protected" nature of the PMSC system means that, unlike conventional SATCOM systems, it incorporates technical features to overcome the vulnerability to electronic jamming, interference, and detection.
The PMSC project will provide the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) with a protected MILSATCOM capability by cooperating with the United States (US) Department of Defense (DoD) on their Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) MILSATCOM space segment as detailed in a DND/DoD Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed in November 1999.
