Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement

Steven MacKinnon

Steve MacKinnon has been the Member of Parliament for the riding of Gatineau since October 2015. The Prime Minister asked him to serve as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement in January 2017.

Steve was a Senior Vice-President at Hill + Knowlton Strategies, a communications and public affairs firm, where he was the national practice leader in specialized transactions related to mergers and acquisitions.

Steve also has extensive professional experience in the political arena. He was an advisor to Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin and New Brunswick Premier Frank McKenna. He was also the National Director of the Liberal Party of Canada and the Returning Officer for the Liberal Leadership in 2013. He is regularly invited to various national media forums as a political commentator.

Steve is a contributor to charitable works to benefit literacy.

Steve is proficient in both of Canada’s official languages and holds a bachelor’s in business administration from the Université de Moncton and a master’s in business administration from Queen’s University. He has also completed the Canadian Securities Course.

Steve and his wife, Janelle, live in Gatineau with their three children.
