When you visit our website, you reveal no personal information. However, in order to improve our online services, we routinely record a limited amount of anonymous information about users’ visits to help us

If you contact Statistics Canada by e-mail, the personal and contact information you provide is used only for responding to your request. Statistics Canada does not store or use your contact information for any other purpose.

Ordering and subscribing online to Statistics Canada products and services

You can order and subscribe to numerous products and services via our website. When you do this, you are usually required to provide contact information, such as your name and address, and financial information such as a credit card number.

We use contact information only to support your client relationship with us. In other words, we use it for invoicing you or informing you about new products, or to invite you to join market research activities. If you do not wish to be contacted for promotional or market research purposes, please contact us.

Statistics Canada stores your information for seven years and then destroys it. While the information is in Statistics Canada’s keeping, it is completely confidential. Statistics Canada will not sell, distribute, trade or transfer client information to other government departments, businesses, institutions, organizations or individuals outside Statistics Canada for commercial or any other purposes, unless required by law.

Statistics Canada's e-commerce partner

Statistics Canada has contracted Teranet, an e-commerce provider, to process credit card payments made online. Teranet uses encryption technology to ensure that your order is processed in a secure environment. Teranet does not provide your credit card number to Statistics Canada.
