Website traffic and visitor satisfaction

Statistics Canada conducts a visitor evaluation survey of its website regularly. The purpose of the survey is to ensure that the design and content of the website stay in step with visitors’ changing needs. The following information illustrates the increasing use of the website and provides some key findings from the survey.

Number of website visits and page views

The number of visits and the total number of pages viewed by visitors have increased every year since the launch of the Statistics Canada website in 1997/1998.

In 2006/2007, the site registered nearly 20 million visits and almost 148 million page views (daily averages exceeding 50,000 visits and 400,000 page views).
