Farm product prices

March 2009 (Previous release)

Prices received by farmers in March for grains, oilseeds, specialty crops, potatoes, cattle, hogs, poultry, eggs and dairy products are now available.

The March Alberta slaughter cattle price was $86.46 per hundredweight, up 11.2% from February, and up 16.4% from March 2008 when the price was $74.29.

The Ontario wheat price was $173.35 per metric tonne in March, down 10.6% from February. The wheat price in Ontario has decreased 37.4% from March 2008 when it stood at $276.75.

Note: Farm commodity prices are now available on CANSIM. Prices for over 35 commodities are available by province, some series going back 20 years.
