JENI MAYER

Place of birth: Coleville, Saskatchewan
Place of residence: Martensville, Saskatchewan

When Jeni Mayer, at 12 years of age, decided to become a writer, she and her friends were interested in witches, ghosts, seances, and graveyards. Later in life, when she began to write mystery novels for children and young adults, it seemed natural to focus on those themes which had fascinated her when she was young. Her mysteries have Canadian settings, another "theme" dear to her heart. She is dedicated to promoting Canada -- and Saskatchewan -- to Canadian school children. She does so, not only through her writing, but also through school visits and readings across the province and the country. Working as an Education Officer with the Saskatchewan Writers Guild offers her additional opportunities to foster an awareness of the literature of Saskatchewan and Canada with Saskatchewan students and teachers. Jeni Mayer lives in Martensville with her husband, with whom she is writing a new book, and her two children.
