eagles onto my chest

by Joe Blades

stones necklace
watch
forest green socks
for cold grey carpet
sit near a window
black coffee at hand
comfortable
warm after shower
clean fresh
silver pinkie nail
so delicate on one
taller and heavier than father
indirect sun reflecting
from snow and glass
across the promenade
on breasts
soft chest hair

       a stapler waits
       to bind collated pages
       cartons of books wait
       for shipment
       warehouse and stores
       a computer purrs
       waiting for fingers
       to stroke and liven
       to generate

outside swarms george
street junior high students
pizza slice skateboard lunch
clots government workers
swirls and jostles sidewalks
