INTERNSHIP at The Danforth Review
July 2008
The Danforth Review (TDR) is an online Canadian literary magazine, based in Toronto and founded in 1999. Located at http://www.danforthreview.com on the World Wide Web, TDR publishes four issues of short fiction annually, plus regular interviews with Canadian authors, essays and book reviews. The focus of the magazine is Canadian small press publishing (though not exclusively).
TDR seeks interns to assist the Features Editor about 6-10 hours a week.
Duties as assigned may include researching authors and publishers for articles, copy editing, talking to publishers about upcoming titles, writing reviews, organizing e-mail queries from freelance writers, returning calls to researching and generating ideas.
We want enthusiastic candidates who have an interest in book publishing and book media, people who want to learn about the industry and see it as a potential career.
Qualifications and skills:
- Applicants should have some understanding of the book media world.
- Independent work habits and strong relationship building, writing and time-management and organizational skills.
Applications:
Interested applications should send a cover letter, CV and short writing sample to features@danforthreview.com.
In your cover letter, cite at least three media sources and articles you found informative (do not include TDR as a source).
Good luck whatever you decide, and we do appreciate you thinking of us for your intern experience. TDR will respond to all applications as soon as possible. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to email features@danforthreview.com
