Qwerty
QWERTY is the first six letters on a keyboard. A meaningless jumble, arranged this way so the metal arms on a typewriter (remember those?) would not jam, even in a frenzy of typing. That is where QWERTY comes from. Frenetic action--then a smooth strike against a blank page. QWERTY, then, is an intermediary. It exists between thought and expression (sing it, Lou). It is a space that absorbs impact and then tranfers it. QWERTY is meant to be pressed, struck, caressed and punched repeatedly. Thus, what you will find within QWERTY, the magazine, are the imprints of delirium--the fossils of rage. It is a space where passions can be observed, remembered, or perhaps, eulogized. |
