In Bloom

A brilliant single flower
shimmering in the
early morning rays
shades of colour
constantly changing
with the slowly rising sun

The long smooth stem
slowly straightens
until standing erect
and tall

Petals unfold like
an outstrechted hand
reaching toward the
searing light,
the brightening fire
in the sky
