Assistant Professor
The University of Manitoba Faculty of Social Work invites applications for one
tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2003
(a later date may be negotiated).
The Faculty of Social Work is proud of its continuing efforts to broaden accessibility
to social work education that addresses poverty, family violence, racism, sexism,
homophobia, ableism and ageism. The Faculty offers three degree programs. The
B.S.W. provides a generalist foundation with an emphasis on feminist practice
and practice in Aboriginal cultures, while offering the opportunity for focused
study in a variety of practice areas. The M.S.W. includes specializations in
social clinical practice and social policy, planning, and administration. The
Ph.D. offers advanced study in family-focused intervention or social policy analysis
and planning.
Candidates for this position should have the demonstrated ability or potential
to contribute to all programs through teaching, research, and thesis / practicum
supervision. Candidates must have knowledge & experience directly related
to Aboriginal peoples, in addition to one or more of the following areas of social
work: community practice; direct practice, addictions; gerontological social
work; social policy development & analysis; and social service administration.
A doctoral degree in social work or a cognate discipline (ABD will be considered)
are required. If the doctorate is in a cognate discipline, a social work degree
is required. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
