The Main Street Project Inc. is seeking a dynamic and resourceful new Executive
Director to provide leadership and direction in a busy 24-hour agency. MSP offers
a range of health and social services to folks who are experiencing poverty,
ill health, homelessness and substance abuse. The Executive Director is responsible
for the day-to-day management of the organization, which operates six residential
and support programs in the core area. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity
to work with a team of 60 staff and administer a budget in excess of $2 million.
The Executive Director's duties include:
- Support to our volunteer Board of Directors and its Committees
- All aspects of the financial management of the organization
- Overall responsibility for human resources, including development and implementation
of fair and equitable personnel policies and direct supervision of management
and administrative staff
- Primary leadership in organizational planning, evaluation and development
- External and media relations, including funders, service partners and members
of the public
- Public advocacy on issues that impact the lives and health of clients
- On-call duties and crisis intervention as required
The right person for this job will possess:
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline and 5 years experience in social
services or health agency (or equivalent)
- Understanding of and ability to work cooperatively with volunteer Board
of Directors
- Genuine interest in the folks who come to us for assistance
- Progressive leadership experience that includes human resources, financial
management and organizational development
- Demonstrated understanding of human resources in a unionized environment
and a creative approach to challenging human resource issues
- Proven negotiation, conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A well developed sense of humour and a knack for priority-setting and multi-tasking
