Aboriginal Capacity and Development Research Environment (ACADRE) project
Institute for Aboriginal Health
The University of British Columbia invites applications for the part-time position
of Project Coordinator. The role of
this position is to develop, coordinate and manage the Aboriginal Capacity and
Development Research Environment
(ACADRE) project. Major responsibilities include: collaborating with the Institute
for Aboriginal Health (IAH) council
to establish governance for this project; recruiting, training and supervising
research staff; establishing a
management committee to assist staff with initial policy creation; writing and
developing proposals for health
research funding, including facilitating funding interest and team building;
linking community-identified health
areas with experienced researchers; managing activities of community-based and
community-oriented Aboriginal
collaborators / consultants; coordinating and managing round table discussions
with community members; acting as
liaison with faculty with expertise in health research areas to participate
with community assessments; preparing
and managing project budget and communications plan; and performing other related
duties.
Applicants must have a University degree (Masters in health care preferred)
plus minimum four years of related
experience, preferably in a health services or research environment and applied
experience using empirical research
methods, as well as knowledge of Aboriginal health and health care issues, demonstrated
experience working with
Aboriginal communities in research and educational development, and familiarity
with health care databases an
asset. Computer experience is required. Effective oral and written communication,
interpersonal, supervisory,
analytical and organizational skills are required, and a proven ability to work
both independently and within a team
environment.
The Project Coordinator reports to the Principal, College of Health Disciplines
and the Director, First Nations House
of Learning.
