The Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre invite qualified candidates to apply for the position of Office Manager in our Winnipeg Office.

Specific Responsibilities:

· Undertakes a range of functions to ensure the smooth operation of the administration activities within the organization.
· Maintain, manage and ensure appropriate backup and storage of computer files such as copies of final documents, plans, procedures and policies and an employee handbook.
· Coordinate external contracts and consultants related to office administration, personnel issues and executive matters.
· Operates and maintain office equipment and arranges repairs when necessary.
· Makes recommendations for new or additional office equipment as appropriate.
· Develops, implements and updates personnel related policies, procedures and forms. Stays current with laws and regulations affecting personnel issues, employment practices or trends and recommendations new or revised policies and procedures.
· Assists and supports the Executive Director and other program coordinators on personnel issues. Responds to employees on personnel policies, procedures and benefits.
· Coordinates and assists with employee recruitment, hiring, orientation, and professional development, employee classification and ensures completion of all appropriate paperwork for new employees and submits the paperwork to the Finance Administrator regarding new employees and exiting employees for salary and benefits related purposes.
· Establishes and maintains personnel records and reports, also MFNERC charts and employee directions, including staff lists.
· Act as the first point of contact for on-site visitors and answers relevant questions regarding the organization.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Completed training in an Administrative program; with experience and/or training in Human Resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· A minimum of 3 years related experience.
· Experience in an office administrative position including supervision of staff.
· Experience working in a First Nation education environment is preferred.
· Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills required.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills in technical and plain language writing.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
· Computer literate in Microsoft Word and other computer programs such as PowerPoint and Excel.
· Fluency in a First Nation language will be considered an asset.
· Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
