Business Unit Description:
Global Recruitment Strategies is a department of Central Services that provides strategic leadership, guidance and recruitment expertise to a global client base that includes both Human Resources professionals and senior management across all lines of business and regions. It is staffed by a team of consultants and professionals in a range of areas related to the recruitment and management of talent across the enterprise, including campus recruitment activities, equity outreach and intake programs, e-recruitment strategies, and policy development.

Central Services is the point where strategy and operational objectives of human resources are integrated. Our teams of Human Resources professionals provide consultation and expert advice in areas of recruitment strategies, learning and development, research, organizational design, change management and human resources technology. Our goal is to enhance organizational efficiency and operational excellence by delivering integrated and innovative human resources solutions that enable CIBC to achieve global, enterprise-wide business strategy solutions.

Key Accountabilities / Activities:
Purpose:

To conduct outreach activities and manage relationships with community organizations, which will provide candidates from the targeted equity groups to client businesses. To support the development and implement long-term global recruitment strategies with an emphasis or expertise in intake and outreach activities intended to increase diversity in CIBC's workforce.

Key activities:
1. Plan, coordinate, and participate in various outreach and intake activities (i.e., career fairs, developing partnerships with colleges/universities, etc.) that target members of the equity groups, such as Aboriginal People and/or people with disabilities, which may involve travel to various locations in Canada.
2. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the Human Resources staff within CIBC's Strategic Business Units (SBU) in order to ensure a solid understanding of jobs and current and future recruitment needs.
3. Educate, consult and transfer knowledge of CIBC values regarding diversity, staffing principles and processes to external stakeholders and potential outreach partners including community-based organizations that service Aboriginal People and/or people with disabilities.
4. Provide professional advice and guidance to H.R. colleagues (Human Resources Consultants, Employee Relations Consultant), and hiring managers on issues related to recruitment, assessment, and intake of applicants from the targeted equity groups.
5. Generate an applicant flow through the proactive networking, database mining, career fairs, internet recruitment sites as well as researching other potential sourcing channels as appropriate for current and future pipeline vacancies.
6. To review applications and conduct preliminary screening (telephone and/or in-person) to ensure the applicants satisfy the minimum requirements of CIBC's equity support programs and make appropriate referral of candidates to programs and/or resourcing consultants. Upon need, provide counsel to intake consultants on interviewing candidates from the equity groups.
7. Support the development of an environment that leads to increased retention of members from the equity groups.
8. Collect data that is necessary to track and report on candidate successes.
9. Remain current on recruitment practices.
10. Provide backup/coverage for team members as required.
11. Position may require travel to various locations in Canada.

Requirements:
* Extensive knowledge of the issues and barriers affecting members of the equity groups including factors that influence the recruitment and retention of workers.
* Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills required building strong relationships with internal and external contacts.
* Strong organizational skills in order to manage competing priorities, multiple relationships, and recruitment activities.
* Technical skills/proficiency with database systems.
* Interviewing and assessment skills.
* Broad knowledge of the recruitment industry including current market trends and external sourcing channels is required.
* Demonstrated knowledge of financial industry is an asset.
* Experience in working in an environment that is constantly undergoing change. The incumbent needs to be able to cope effectively with the changing needs of the business.
* High level of professionalism.
* Proactive approach to relationship building.
* Well-developed public speaking and presentation skills.
