Nurse Practitioner/ Rural Hospital Setting

Atikokan General Hospital is looking for
a self-directed, practitioner
to provide primary health care services
in their facility

Atikokan General Hospital is a 41-bed acute/long term care facility located
in the rural remote town of Atikokan, Ontario
"The Canoeing Capital of Canada"
a 2-hour drive west from Thunder Bay

The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse-Extended Class with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who provides holistic patient care based on advanced nursing and basic medical management knowledge and skills for a selected patient population.

Responsibilities include, primary health care, employee health, client and staff education based on assessments of educational needs and determined learning goals, health promotion and program development addressing determinants of health in this small community. It is expected that the candidate will work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications: Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse Extended Class.
Minimum 5 years recent nursing experience relevant to the care of family
practice population, with a focus on the geriatric population.
Experience in providing Primary Health Care with an emphasis on health
Promotion and disease prevention.
Knowledge of adult educational principles and skills specific to
educational instruction.
Current CPR certification.
Computer literate.
