Positive ideas, positive solutions, no one would argue that those type of messages would be welcome.
But... ignoring the negative, refusing to discuss the negative issues in our communities does not make them go away. If the Elders and leaders do not take these issues seriously, that is because they simply do not want to. It isn't in their best interests to. Why upset the status quo?
: I just found this web site and I was horrified with all the negative discussions. I know some of the topic are of concern to those who are writing, but I think that if we want to see any change in our community or the views of the main-stream world we must start to make positive changes. I am reading all the bad language that is being used and I don't see anything being offered in the sense of what is the next step. We have all had to deal with things such as residental schools, addiction, intergenerational grief, abuse and the list goes on. But if an Elder or any political member of our communities took a look at some of the comments of this website, no one would take any of your concrens for any great value. I understand where most of you are coming from but I think with all the negative issues that are and have deal with, we need to have a more positive attitude to see postive outcomes. Meegwetch
