Assistant Superintendent
The Assistant Superintendent will have the opportunity to work with a newly amalgamated
school division strongly committed to educational excellence and collaborative
decision-making. Prairie Spirit School Division has 30 schools and is located
in southwestern Manitoba with approximately 240 teachers, 290 support staff, and
a budget of approximately $21 million.
The successful candidate will become part of the division's senior administrative
team, comprised of the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Secretary Treasurer
and Director of Operations.
Applicants must:
· Have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning
· Have a demonstrated commitment to professional development and personal
growth planning
· Have a demonstrated commitment to the development and support of a learning
community that includes shared decision-making, and school based planning
· Possess excellent interpersonal communication, problem-solving, facilitation
and technology skills
· Have demonstrated success in initiating and supporting change in an organization
· Have demonstrated success working as a member of a collaborative team
· Be knowledgeable in terms of current and emerging curriculum and assessment
issues
· Have an understanding of educational finance and the budget process
· Have a principle-centered approach to decision making.
Qualifications:
· Extensive and varied teaching and administrative experience
· Valid Manitoba Teacher's Certificate or equivalent
· Valid Manitoba Level 1 or 11 Administrator's Certificate or equivalent
Major Responsibilities:
· As part of the Senior Administration team the incumbent will participate
in the overall operation of the Prairie Spirit School Division. Specific duties
will be determined through a collaborative process at the Senior Administration
team level.
Bilingualism may be considered an asset. Applicants are requested to submit a
comprehensive resume including a statement of educational philosophy and the names
of four references, all of whom must have firsthand knowledge of the applicant's
performance in the applicant's current or recent assignment.
