We have the largest advisory distribution network in Canada with 3,000 advisors in our various sales forces; over $250 billion in total assets under administration; and we are one of the largest providers of mutual funds and mutual fund wrap products in Canada, with combined assets of over $30 billion from our three mutual funds businesses.Within the Wealth Management division, Private Banking offers integrated financial advice and solutions to meet the needs of wealthy individuals for banking, investments, credit and estate planning. Strong client relationships form the foundation of this highly personalized service.

Major Activities:

  1. Responsible for providing highly specialized advice and consultation with respect to a broad range of complex estate planning products and services to add value to the client relationship.
  2. Meet with relationship managers and clients or prospects to identify estate opportunities in the area a of estate planning.
  3. Review documents and provide potential solutions to clients in the area of estate planning.
  4. Liaise with the clients’ professional advisors as needed to discuss information relevant to the clients’ planning needs.
  5. Act as the resident expert on Estate Planning for both domestic and offshore products supporting the Private Banking, and other Wealth Management areas as needed.
  6. Provide expertise on the tax implications of estate planning and succession planning. The responsibility for all legal and tax advice and/or for advice on structures to be implemented rests with the client’s outside professional advisors.
  7. Educate the Private Bankers on estate planning products and services to help them identify potential client opportunities.
  8. Act as the central resource to support and close estate planning sales from CIBC Segments including Commercial Banking, Small Business, Imperial Service and Investment Specialists.
  9. Ensure that recommendations and opinions offered to clients are in compliance with the highest professional standards and that they reflect the judgment of the firm.
  10. Promote and market the services provided by Private Banking both within CIBC and with external centres of influence.
  11. Maintain a network of professional advisors as resources and potential referral sources for new clients.
  12. Maintain a high profile for Wealth Management within and outside the financial community.
  13. Remain current on changing industry trends and regulations related to estate planning and tax matters
  14. Review internal materials and communications related to the Estate & Trust business as needed to support overall business needs.
  15. Prepare internal reports to highlight changes in legislation related to the Estate & Trust business
