Boo-shoo!
This posting is in regards to the First Nations Governance Act and its proposals that are dividing "Indian Country" north of the "invisible line" (49th parallel). So,in the tradition of the oral storytelling of my ancestors, I'll give you people two stories in which to think on.

1
The old man was bewildered. The two sides that were arguing both didn't make any sense in their attempts to put each other down. But, the old man knew what was expected of him and what the traditional ways of his ancestors showed him. The band meetings he attended were becoming increasingly violent and nothing "good" came out of them as the incumbents fought off the attempts of the "accountabilitists" to dislodge them. Old edgar could relate to the problems of these disadvantaged of the disadvantaged, but, they failed to see the reality of the position of the Indian people, claimed by this foreign country. And how tenous the hold was on the resources they had and how scantily they were shared amongst the people that remained. They waved Supreme Court decisions in the face of the incumbents, but, when has the Supreme Court ever come to the reserve. Old Edgar asks himself. The incumbents care for their people and the great white father was supposed to share the resources with them and every one was supposed to benefit. But white lies are worth more then red truth in this world and these "accountabilitists" couldn't see the difference...even with their paper and big words. So, old Edgar is going to back the Grand incumbent and send everything the white man sends to him back and live like his ancestors...free and without written words to shackle him.

2.
"These guys are assholes" Taco said to his buddies from the school. "How could they ignore the truth when its written right in front of them" he continued."All we want is for them to show some backbone and support their people who've gone to live out in the greater world without stealing money to speak for them." replied Johnny Doodem. "And here they are throwing us out into the garbage cans out back without even letting us speak."he continued. "Such is the way of the of the incumbents" said Queen Accountability, leader of this group of "accountabilitists". "They fight their own people, they call them down, they pay off family members, so, we can't even go home without getting into a fight."she continued. "But all is not lost my grassroot people, they can't ignore us forever.. the new way of accountability shall prevail and the incumbents will fall." Queen Accountability replied. "Yeah, I won't let anyone speak for me unless its someone like myself" said Taco. "Especially no Grand Incumbent and his idealess cronies.. hey, Queen" he continued. "Yes, your so right Taco" replied the Queen. "These incumbents don't speak for the Indian persons that left and they certainly don't know what the grassroots are thinking, so, why should we listen to the grand thiefster." she continued. "Don't worry my grassroot people. Our allies those-who-seek-to-reform will help us. With their support we'll end those incumbents corrupt reign and take back what is ours." exclaimed the Queen."But, what if we help them and they betray us." Johnny Doodem quietly asked. As he brushed his long hair and straightened his mock eagle feather. "They won't betray us and what the individual those-who-seek-to-reform members say is just that, individuals. They will support us to their dying day and the incumbents will rue the day they made us suffer this defeat" shouted Queen Accountability. "We will answer every piece of paper the government sends us and every else we know paper." she continued. "The grassroot people will know for sure that the end justifies the means and they will thank us for that." replied the Queen vehemently.

I hope you people could understand what i'm rambling about. Hopefully, I will finish this in the next couple of days with some explanation of my stories.

Meeqwetch!
