Another notion that has capative our people know as accountability. We try to decipher our meaning, but when it comes to the actual action, we have become a nation that cannot say no to our fellow members. The reality is that we need individuals who have training and understand that there are vendors to be paid three months in the future. And our flow of funding is slowly being parched by those who have sense of management.
I speak as a member from my reservation, who hired a band manager or controller and had no understanding what a bank statement was or its neccesity for an accounting period. An indivdual who ran our community into a deficit and turns around and can be employeed with any native organisation without any background check.
It is not only accountability in the financial area, but many former chiefs are sitting cosy and receiving outragoeus paycheques, who have put their own communities in a deficit.
Come on you so definers of this action, maybe you should review your own financial affairs and amke some adjustments to your own dealings before making a comment on others.
It is the hope of many old people who reside in the communities to set a new agenda and realise that accountability comes from the home and not in the workplace.
Watch your steps, because you maybe the one on the examining table for your actions.
