The Organization
The Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of Canada (AFOA) is a young, dynamic
association that is fast becoming the centre of excellence and innovation in Aboriginal
financial management. AFOA develops quality standards, promotes best practices,
builds strategic partnerships, utilizes innovative technologies, and provides certification
and professional development to enhance the capacity of members and Aboriginal
organizations. The association is looking for a President and COO to successfully
implement a member-centred strategic plan.
The Position
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and COO is accountable for
developing, recommending and implementing, upon Board approval, strategies and
business plans for the efficient and effective business operations of the association.
The Candidate
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A business degree or diploma with either the CAFM, CA, CGA or CMA professional accounting designation;
- Experience working in financial management;
- Aboriginal status or an individual with experience working with Aboriginal organizations;
- A minimum of five years’ experience in a senior leadership role; and
- Experience working with boards and committees, together with strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills, along with consensus building capabilities to establish effective relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Other assets may include: association experience, bilingual capacity, experience in certification programs and post secondary institutions, standards development, conferences and seminars, publications, working with Chapters and technology projects.
