& Fire Safety Performance-Based Solutions

September 23-24, 2003 - Winnipeg and October 15-16, 2003 - Calgary

All provinces and territories have endorsed the move to objective-based codes. This course will provide attendees with an understanding of the proposed objective-based codes to be published in 2004 by the National Research Council to replace the current prescriptive-based codes. The structure of the objective-based codes will differ from what is in use today. The acceptable solutions for achieving the objectives will be discussed in terms of prescriptive and performance-based solutions. Performance-based solutions will be recognized as one form of acceptable solutions under objective-based codes. This course will provide attendees with background on the development of objective-based codes, the basis for their development and an understanding of their use. Attendees will gain an advanced understanding of the “new” code structure.
