I was extremely disappointed to see that The Drum failed to report on Murray Sinclair's ascension to the Court of Queen's Bench. This is no little feat. Our first First Nations Q.C. Everybody knows that our people need to be just a little bit better to make it in the white man's world. Justice Murray Sinclair's life accomplishments are a credit to all Aboriginal people.
Mr. Sinclair is a very great man. He was Co-Commissioner of the Aboriginal Justice Inquiry Report. A report that changed the way Manitoba Justice looked at Aboriginal people. The Report is probably one of the most important documents ever drafted, in regards to our people. It has changed the relationship between Aboriginal people, the police and the courts forever.
Mr. Sinclair also helped set up the Hollow Water Community Holistic Healing Circle. A Circle that has received global attention and praise.
Mr. Sinclair also headed the inquest into the baby deaths at the HSC. A job no-one else wanted. But given his tremendous credibility (even in the white world), be was able to pull it off.
Mr. Sinclair also is Co-Chair of the North American Indigenous Games. He has a strong commitment to his people and he proves this by his involvement in this momentous athletic event which will showcase our most talented young athletes.
There are many more feathers in Justice Murray Sinclair's headdress. Why do I mention them? Because The Drum, "Manitoba's Source for Aboriginal News", didn't find this worthy to print. Oh yeah, but I guess it's old news. It's not new news like Don Wing Construction.
The Drum seems to expend its recent energies in writing about Louis Stevenson, Phil Fontaine, Peguis or Sagkeeng. Give it a rest.
I suppose now I will be attacked personally, called a sell-out. Go ahead. But I'll tell you this, and no amount of personal attack can change this fact. Even the Winnipeg Sun reported on Justice Murray Sinclair's coup. Refute that.
