IN MY HEART AT DAWN

In my heart at dawn you are the awakening sun,
and I rise to greet you, to speak with the light.
As I move through the day you are with me,
whispering to me like drifting clouds.

In my soul at noon you are the radiant light,
warming me to the root with Spring's pleasure.
Like the idle trees with their green buds,
I await the full proclamation of burgeoning leaves.

In my mind at dusk you are the infinite memory
of ecstasy made slow, of the world become a room.
The birds call and call
and only your murmured answer comes back to them.

In my dreams at midnight you are the willowy figure
who waits for me at the lush center.
I move towards you in an uprush of feeling
and together we melt into amorous light again.
