become a lawyer

i hear
ambulance
and dogs
howl
outside
my thoughts

the sun
a bright spot
beneath
the horizon
can't come
quick enough
to open
the flowers
before the rain

i am not
responsible
watch the truck
robbing
my neighbour's garage
should i
become a lawyer
decide what is
worth crying about
for you
a baby crow
on the ground
i feel powerful
and stupid

sound of rain now
like bare feet
i am not alone
push through the darkness
in silence
a messenger
from the apartment

girl in a bikini
leans over the balcony
watching
as i take off
my coat
