Reveal Imaging Technologies Receives $3.6 Million TSA R&D Contract for
Carry-on Baggage Explosives and Weapons Detection
Bedford MA November
4, 2005 - Reveal Imaging Technologies, Inc., a developer of advanced security
inspection systems, announced today that the Transportation Security
Administration (TSA) awarded the company a $3.6 million research and development
contract under Project Cambria, TSA's Advanced Weapons and Explosives Detection
System development program.
Project Cambria includes the development, evaluation, training, trial deployment and support of explosives detection systems (EDS) for the automated screening of passenger carry-on baggage and divested articles at checkpoints. As part of the contract, Reveal will develop and deliver one operational system for carry-on baggage within 12 months after contract award. These systems will enhance the carry-on baggage inspection process currently used in U.S. airports.
"TSA introduced the Cambria program to develop systems capable of increasing the security of carry-on bags and optimize the flow of passengers through the checkpoint, " said Michael Ellenbogen, president and CEO of Reveal Imaging Technologies. "Reveal's X-ray and CT technology were designed at the outset for security and easy integration into an airport's operational flow. I am confident that we will deliver carry-on screening systems that will keep the public secure and the checkpoint line moving. "
There are approximately 1800 existing passenger checkpoint lanes in U.S. airports. TSA operators at these checkpoint lanes use X-ray screening equipment to detect weapons and other threat objects in carry-on baggage and personal affects.
Once complete, Reveal's carry-on inspection system will quickly and automatically identify suspect explosives and weapons in passenger's hand carried bags and other divested articles.

American Airlines Gets First 'Wing-Lift'
Seattle November 4, 2005 - Last week the folks in Tulsa, Oklahoma witnessed a first: an American Airlines 737-800 aircraft retrofitted with Blended Winglet technology took to the skies.
The winglets, developed by Aviation Partners Boeing, a Seattle-based joint venture of Aviation Partners, Inc. and the Boeing Company, are eight-foot vertical extensions of the aircraft's wingtips that have proven to significantly reduce fuel consumption, improve payload/range capability, lower aircraft noise and emissions, and dramatically improve takeoff performance from difficult airports.
American Airlines mechanics installed the winglets at their maintenance facility in Tulsa. In another first for American, this week the airline began Blended Winglet installations on 20 of their Boeing 757-200s.
With the installation of American Airlines first set of Blended Winglets, Aviation Partners Boeing now has over 800 shipsets of their patented wing tip devices in service with commercial airlines all over the world. Since their certification in mid-2001, over 1500 shipsets of Blended Winglets have been ordered.
Next year approximately 80% of new Boeing 737-700/800 aircraft will be delivered with Aviation Partners Boeing Blended Winglets. Blended Winglets are also certified for the Boeing 737-300 and 757-200. The company has plans to certify Blended Winglets for the 737-600 and 737-900 and is negotiating with prospective launch customers to certify Blended Winglets for the 767-300ER, 717, and MD-80 aircraft.
Altair Avionics Receives FAA Certifications for Sikorsky S-76 Applications
Stratford CT November 4, 2005 - Sikorsky Aircraft is pleased to announce that Altair Avionics Corporation has received Supplemental Type Certifications from the Federal Aviation Administration for their SmartCycle+ and Data Transmission Unit (DTU) for the Sikorsky S-76 A, A+, A++ and S-76 C.
The SmartCycle+ is a JAR-OPS-3 compliant aircraft and engine usage monitoring system. It automatically records key parameters in flight, producing engine usage, exceedence and event data, which can be used to monitor the overall performance of the engines.
This marks the first certified application of an Altair Avionics system on a helicopter from Sikorsky, which is a fellow United Technologies Corporation company. "We are pleased to offer the SmartCycle+ system as a key element of providing JAR-OPS 3 compliance to our S-76 operators. This engine usage monitor system will also provide substantial maintenance cost benefits by recording and measuring engine exceedances and allowing customers to use this data to operate and maintain their aircraft more intelligently. It is one step towards realizing our health and usage monitoring system strategy for the S-76," said Eric Hansen, Sikorsky S-76 Program Manager.
Altair is also in the process of certifying this system for the S-76C+ aircraft and anticipates receiving certification on the S-76C+ by the second quarter of 2006.
The S-76 fleet has accumulated more than 4 million flight hours, an achievement made possible by the over 220 operators currently flying close to 600 aircraft in 60 countries around the world. Sikorsky is scheduled to deliver the milestone 600th aircraft in the series later this year.
SJ30-2 Aircraft Sales Skyrocket Over 295 Orders
San Antonio November 4, 2005 - Sino Swearingen Aircraft Corporation (SSAC), manufacturers of the new SJ30-2 ultra high performance business jet announced today that it has recorded an extraordinary number of new aircraft orders exceeding 295 sales in less than 30 months for the recently FAA Certified SJ30-2 twinjet.
Orders currently represent a backlog exceeding One Billion, Five Hundred Million USD ($1.5 Billion).
Gene Comfort, Senior Vice President of SSAC, Sales and Marketing stated today: "This is an absolutely incredible corporate jet with key performance VPR's (Value Price Ratios) exceeding every aircraft in this category in the world. Orders are accelerating into the stratosphere with advanced performance numbers recently confirmed for the SJ30-2 that include; the world's Fastest Light Business Jet with a high cruise speed of 560 mph, 487 kts. (Mach .83) and the world's Longest Range Light Business Jet, at 2,888 sm."
Mr. Comfort added, "This incredible number of sales is amazing when you consider every sale was made prior to receiving the FAA Certification last week. Sales are so brisk that we increased our pre-FAA certification sales projections so many times that some goals were reached as we were revising them. We were aware that the SJ30-2 and its ultra-high-performance levels would launch it as a world's best seller, but it was hard to imagine that it would happen this fast and the aircraft would achieve sales goals at this incredibly high level prior to obtaining the FAA certification."
A recent SSAC announcement confirmed that the SJ30-2 twinjet has reached all key performance goals, which contributed significantly to increases in sales. The company does not count Letters of Intent (LOI), Letters of Understanding nor accept Letters of Credit (LOC) as deposits, and all orders are backed with signatures and non-refundable cash deposits. A world record may have been set in light business jet aircraft orders booked in this category, with over 295 sales in less than 2.5 years prior to FAA Certification. In the previous month this year, the company averaged more than one sale a day.
SSAC is now projecting a very sharp acceleration in orders at the NBAA Convention this year in Orlando Florida as more customers discover the huge performance advantages and Value Price Ratios (VPR) that the new SJ30-2 offers.
SSAC will have exciting and spectacular announcements relating to FAA certification (the FAA will officially hand over the Type Certification for the SJ30-2 to Sino Swearingen Aircraft Corp.) sales, performance and more on opening day of the NBAA at the Sino Swearingen Aircraft indoor booth number 2176 at 11:00 am. A full size SJ30-2 will be on display along with a full size cockpit and interior. Additionally two SJ30-2 aircraft will be flown in and placed at the NBAA static display for detailed review.
Sino Swearingen Aircraft Corporation has finalized FAA certification of the new SJ30-2 twinjet aircraft on November 27, 2005 in its international headquarters and manufacturing facilities at San Antonio Texas. The Company currently employs over 600 employees in four facilities totaling over 240,000 sq ft in the USA Coast to Coast. Sino Swearingen's SJ30-2 business jet is an Ultra High Performance, exceptionally High Speed and Long Range, Intercontinental, twinjet aircraft with an incredible 2,888 sm range and the highest cruise speed in the light jet industry, Mach .83 (560 mph). This new sleek corporate jet operates at altitudes to 49,000 feet and maintains a "Sea Level Cabin" through 41,000 ft with the best pressurization in the world, 12 psi. The new SJ30-2 is certified for single pilot operations with easy handling characteristics, a low stall speed of 91 kts, short field operations for landing and takeoff, under 3,600 ft and a Vref of only 105 kts under typical landing weights. Sino Swearingen Aircraft Corporation is aggressively geared to become the world's leading aircraft producer by creating a family of cost-efficient, high performance, high-quality, superior technology, business jets.
