Coast Guard will conduct investigation of Queen Mary 2 incident
Miami January 17, 2006 - The Coast Guard will conduct an inspection and investigation of the Queen Mary 2 when it arrives at Terminal 21 in Port Everglades about 10 p.m.
Approximately 5:30 p.m., the Captain of the Queen Mary 2 reported to the Coast Guard the ship had experienced a noise and unusual vibration in the engine room at approximately 1:50 p.m. five miles outside of the Port of Everglades and had reason to believe they may have struck a submerged object.
According to a statement released by Princess Cruises, bridge instruments indicated a problem with one of the ship’s four propulsion motors.
The Coast Guard requiring the Queen Mary 2 to use tugboats to assist in returning to port issued a Captain of the Port Order.
The vessel will be required to remain at the pier until the Coast Guard determines if the vessels and its passengers are safe. There have been no reports of injury or pollution as this time. The cause of the noise and vibration are not known at this time.
The Coast Guard will be working with the ships crew and flag state officials. The Queen Mary 2 is a United Kingdom flagged vessel.

Washington January 18, 2006 - Cheer for your favorite horse at the Kentucky Derby or the Preakness, play golf with a rock star, drive a race car at Indy, take a trip to Tahiti, sail to exotic destinations on a luxury cruise, fly business class to London. Led by Destination Marketing Association International Foundation, several hospitality organizations have created the online "Dream Auction 2006" in a collaborative effort to help raise money for tourism-related hurricane relief charities.

Cris Collie, Destination Marketing Association International Foundation Chairman. "We urge everyone to go to the Web site and bid high!" he added.
Atlantis Launches Four New All-Gay Cruises for Its Fifteenth Anniversary
West Hollywood CA January 19, 2006 - Atlantis Events, Inc., the world's largest company specializing in all-gay and lesbian cruises and resort vacations, kicked off its fifteenth anniversary year by announcing four new all-gay cruises designed to give travelers more variety, choice and value than ever before. In total, Atlantis will offer a record seven all-gay cruises in 2006, handling more guests than any other gay and lesbian tour operator.
Atlantis charters entire cruise ships and all-inclusive resorts for the exclusive use of its gay and lesbian guests. Since 1991, Atlantis has hosted almost 80,000 guests on more than 80 different cruise, resort and tour experiences. In October 2005, Atlantis was voted best in category for all-gay cruises and all-gay tours, winning two gold medals in Out Traveler's prestigious Readers' Choice Awards.
The company's four new 2006 cruises are: the Summer in Alaska cruise on Celebrity's #1-rated Infinity; two back-to-back Mediterranean cruises between Barcelona and Athens -- an industry first -- on Royal Caribbean's Brilliance of the Seas; and a new San Diego-to-Acapulco cruise on RCCL's Serenade of the Seas.
The four new cruises complement the company's existing winter 2006 cruises -- to the Western Caribbean, South America and the Eastern Caribbean -- all of which sold out in record time.
"With the support of our loyal guests, we've been able to grow our offerings from a single resort in Mexico to nine diverse destinations throughout the world in 2006," said Rich Campbell, chief executive officer of Atlantis.
"Our new 2006 lineup continues our tradition of bringing our guests the most vacation choices in the world of gay travel. Whether they're looking for a casual beach in Mexico or a tour of Istanbul, we have a cruise to suit a wide variety of tastes and traveling styles. We've managed to keep our rates in line with 2005 as we continue to provide the best value for the gay traveler," said Campbell.
Infinity Summer in Alaska Cruise
Atlantis' Summer in Alaska cruise offers guests an unforgettable, seven-night journey departing from gay-friendly Vancouver on June 4, 2006, and continuing through the scenic Inside Passage and on to some of the greatest sights in the state -- from stunning glaciers to majestic mountains to abundant wildlife. The itinerary includes Ketchikan, Hubbard Glacier, Juneau and Sitka.
Celebrity's Infinity was voted world's best cruise ship among all large ships in Conde Nast Traveler's 2005 Readers' Poll. A true premium cruising experience awaits the 2,000 guests with legendary service, deluxe accommodations, and the stellar entertainment that distinguishes an Atlantis cruise. Staterooms start at $999, based on double occupancy, and rates have been held to 2005 levels.
Brilliance of the Seas Barcelona to Athens Cruise and Athens to Barcelona Cruise
Next summer, Atlantis will make history by offering its first-ever, back-to-back cruises, affording guests the opportunity to choose from two distinct seven- and nine-night Mediterranean vacations, or a once-in-a-lifetime, 16-night odyssey with no repeat ports.
Departing from cosmopolitan and gay-friendly Barcelona on August 27, 2006, the seven-night cruise sails to classic, must-see destinations throughout the Mediterranean, including Cannes, Rome, Santorini, Mykonos and Ephesus, Turkey. The trip concludes upon its arrival at the cradle of Western civilization -- Athens, Greece -- on September 3. Guests wishing to stay in Mykonos may disembark early and extend their vacation with ease.
The second Atlantis Mediterranean voyage is a nine-night adventure that begins on the evening of September 3, 2006 in Athens, en route to five exotic ports of call before disembarking in Barcelona. This cruise blends the mystique of Istanbul and the charm of Dubrovnik with the timeless beauty of Venice and the history of Sicily (Messina). An extra-long day in Naples allows guests to enjoy more of the plentiful sites in this region, from historic Pompeii to the captivating isle of Capri.
All along, guests will enjoy the luxury of Brilliance of the Seas, the newest large cruise ship sailing in Europe today. Brilliance belongs to Royal Caribbean's Radiance family of ships, with more open space, balconies and glass than on any other vessel. Other unique design features of Brilliance of the Sea include a rock-climbing wall, sports deck, multiple theaters and dramatic eleven-story glass elevators overlooking the ocean. Staterooms on these seven- and nine-night cruises start at $1,399 and $1,599, respectively, based on double occupancy.
Serenade of the Seas San Diego to Acapulco Cruise
Atlantis will bring an all-new ship and a fabulous new itinerary to a perennial favorite, its fall Pacific Coast cruise. Serenade of the Seas is the newest ship in the Atlantis lineup and is also one of Royal Caribbean's most exciting ships, known for its added comfort, greater space, sweeping ocean views and exceptional staff. Serenade offers the highest percentage of outside cabins in the Royal Caribbean fleet.
Atlantis is also bringing back its popular eight-night, Saturday-to-Sunday itinerary, but with an exciting twist -- adding Acapulco to its list of sun-drenched ports-of-call. Long a playground for the rich and famous, Acapulco has recently undergone a rebirth that is restoring much of its original glamour. Other ports of call on this fun-filled odyssey include Ixtapa, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo San Lucas. This cruise departs from San Diego on October 21, 2006, and staterooms start at $899 based on double occupancy.
In 2005, Atlantis offered six cruise programs -- all on large luxury ships of 2,000-plus passengers -- and all six sold out well in advance of their departure dates.
"With the extraordinary support of our guests, we sold out all six 2005 cruises in record time," noted Campbell. "This strong demand gives us the opportunity to continue to create even more new and exciting vacations for 2007 and beyond."

Constellation, Millennium, Summit, and Infinity Rank One Through Four,
Respectively
Miami January 20, 2006 - Within the same week of
launching its major new "Celebrity Treatment" ad campaign, Celebrity Cruises
received some celebrity treatment of its own. For the fourth consecutive year,
the line swept Condé Nast Traveler's annual readers' survey ranking "The Best
Cruise Ships in the World."
In the large-ship category, Constellation, Millennium, Summit and
Infinity ranked first through fourth, respectively. While Celebrity has held the
majority of the top rankings in the annual survey since its inception, this is
the first time the line has held every spot from one through four.
Galaxy (ranked seventh) and Mercury (ranked ninth) rounded out the top
10. Celebrity's Century - which will undergo a $55-million revitalization in
April of this year - earned a 12th-place ranking. Full survey results are
published in the February edition of Condé Nast Traveler.
Celebrity
reprised its 2005 sweep of the survey's ratings in the category of food/dining,
with Mercury, Millennium, Century and Galaxy shutting out the competition.
Celebrity's Constellation and Summit earned the first and third spots in the
category of cabins, while Galaxy and Constellation ranked second and fourth for
itineraries.
The informed subscribers of Condé Nast Traveler evaluated
ships on five criteria: itineraries, crew/service, cabins/design, food/dining,
and activities/excursions.
"Condé Nast Traveler's annual readers' survey is one of the most prestigious
polls in the business, so this is particularly meaningful for us," said
Celebrity's President Dan Hanrahan. "It is an enormous endorsement of the
extraordinary service and experience we offer onboard."
Royal Caribbean International Statement Regarding the Visit to Brilliance of the Seas by Smith Representatives
Miami January 20, 2006 - Royal Caribbean has cooperated fully with all investigating authorities from the moment the company discovered Mr. George Smith's disappearance.
The company continues to be concerned that the release of so much information about this case has the effect of making the FBI's investigation more difficult, and that view has been repeatedly expressed by not only our company and others but also the FBI as recently as today.
Nevertheless, the company has decided to permit attorneys and investigators for the Smith family and Jennifer Hagel Smith to visit the ship on Monday, January 23, with the hope that they will honor the concerns about maintaining the confidentiality and the integrity of the FBI's investigation.
The company has noted the attorneys' and investigators' request to throw objects over the balcony of the Smiths' cabin. Due to the fact that the ship is in service with guests on board, the company cannot permit this activity at this time. However, the company is willing to discuss this activity under different circumstances sometime in the future.
India & Bahamas to Sign MOU on Cooperation in Cruise Shipping
New Delhi January 23, 2006 - India and the Bahamas have decided to enter into
an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the possibilities of cooperation
in the area of Cruise Shipping.
This was decided at a meeting between
the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Public Service of the Bahamas H.E. Mr.
Frederick Mitchell and the Union Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Minister
Thiru T.R. Baalu here today.
As the Government is formulating a cruise
shipping policy to make India an attractive cruise tourism destination with
state-of-the-art infrastructure and other facilities at selected ports of the
country, the MoU with Bahamas may give a fillip to this plan keeping in view the
experience of Bahamas in this area. Bahams is a favored cruise shipping
destination in the world and its expertise could be used as valuable signpost in
the development of the Indian cruise shipping industry. The two sides also
discussed the possibility of having an MoU for engagement of more Indian
seafarers on the Bahamas Flagships. Other areas of cooperation in the shipping
and port sector also came up for discussion.
The meeting was also
attended by the Secretary (Shipping), Shri A.K. Mohapatra, Secretary (Road
Transport &Highways) Shri L.K. Joshi besides other senior officials of the
Ministry.
Innovative New Ads Allow Guests to "Create Their Own Adventure"
Miami January 23, 2006 - Royal Caribbean International will today
launch a new advertising campaign that highlights vacation experiences told from
the guest perspective. Aptly titled, "Create Your Own Adventure," the ads are
designed to execute like home movies and bring the viewer closer to the cruise
experience by capturing real moments that guests share on a Royal Caribbean
vacation. The new television ads will air on network prime time and early
morning and late night timeslots as well as some cable networks.
The campaign, created by the line’s agency of record Arnold Worldwide,
consists of four spots that are a continuation of the successful "Get Out There"
campaign and showcase how guests can tailor the Royal Caribbean vacation to suit
their personal style. The first set of ads air on Jan. 23, with the first spot
featuring four girlfriends having the time of their lives on a European cruise
vacation, both onboard the ship and in exciting destinations visited by the
cruise line. The second revolves around a family's vacation in the Caribbean,
and showcases many of the active shore excursions and onboard amenities. Royal
Caribbean is currently completing the production of two additional spots that
are scheduled to air later in the year.
"The new ad campaign uses an
innovative twist on the 30-second TV spot by marketing to current and potential
customers through the guest perspective," said Alice Norsworthy, Senior Vice
President of Marketing for Royal Caribbean International. "Guests relay
first-person accounts of their unforgettable cruise experience onboard our ships
through home movies that they personally captured during their vacation,
providing a unique way for us to communicate our brand messages."
The
non-traditional lens of the home video format used in the campaign makes viewers
feel more involved in the experience, laughing along with the funny moments, and
realizing that Royal Caribbean offers something for everyone with no limit to
the excitement that awaits both onboard and at shore.
