A writer, artist, editor and publisher from Nova Scotia who has been living in Fredericton, New Brunswick since 1990. Joe Blades runs Maritimes Arts Projects Productions, is the publisher at Broken Jaw Press Inc., and is on the editorial board of revue ellipse mag. A graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (BFA, 1988), he is also an alumni of the Banff Centre, Maritime Writers Workshop, Sage Hill Experience, and the Simon Fraser University Book Publishing Immersion Workshop. He travels extensively, giving readings, lectures and workshops across Canada, in the Eastern USA, and in Europe. Blades curated Videopoems: a screening for the Tidal Wave Film Festival (2003), has edited ten anthologies, and has been the producer-host of Ashes, Paper & Beans: Fredericton's Writing & Arts program on CHSR since 1995. His poetry has appeared, since 1980, in magazines, videos, art exhibitions, over 50 anthologies, 30 chapbooks, and in five books. A sixth book, Casemate Poems (Collected) is in the works for 2009.
