The National Library of Canada Celebrates Heritage Day
Heritage Day 2002 celebrations concluded with a lively musical and literary homage to Evangeline, the Acadian heroine featured in the National Library of Canada's exhibit Evangeline's Odyssey. Visitors met the exhibit's curator, Deborah Robichaud, and discovered how a legend became a symbol of strength and perseverance.

The National Library of Canada, in conjunction with Historica and the National Archives of Canada, celebrated Heritage Day with a "Reach for the Top" type of quiz that challenged students from area high schools with questions on Canadian history. Gloucester High School came out on top, but with books being awarded to participating schools for their school libraries, everyone was a winner.
Hosts for the competition were National Librarian Roch Carrier and National Archivist Ian Wilson, with Mitchell Sharp as the guest speaker.
