Getting Ahead of the Epidemic: the Federal Government Role in the Canadian Strategy on HIV/AIDS 1998-2008 ( The Five Year Review)

The Five Year Review is an examination of federal participation in the Canadian Strategy on HIV/AIDS (CSHA). The review:

  • examines the changing realities of the HIV/AIDS epidemic over the past five years, and describes progress achieved by the federal government response, lessons learned, barriers and gaps.
  • defines the roles and responsibilities of federal government departments within the context of the five year strategic plan for Canada (currently under development). The review also discusses the future federal role within the broader national response to the epidemic, including the engagement of other federal government departments in the CSHA.
  • presents options for the allocation of the CSHA's $42.2M, and an analysis of the adequacy of current overall funding.
