Statement from the Chief Public Health Officer on the Canadian flu vaccine supply

Canada has secured sufficient supply to meet the current demand for publicly administered flu vaccine programs. The Public Health Agency of Canada, along with the provinces and territories closely monitors the demand for flu vaccine in Canada on an ongoing basis. The Government continues to discuss with manufacturers the possibility of purchasing additional supply in the event of a spike in flu activity which could lead to an increase in demand for the flu vaccine.

Per capita, more Canadians receive the flu shot than residents of any other country. The flu vaccine is the best protection against the flu virus, so it is encouraging to see that more Canadians are getting the flu shot this season than ever before.
