Facilities Decreasing the Risk of
Aspergillus, Legionella and Other Infections
Appendix: Published Standards/Codes Related to
Construction
The following list is not exhaustive. It should be
noted that each province or territory may incorporate
the National Building Codes in a slightly different
manner since these codes represent the minimum
requirements. As well, each municipality or region
may incorporate the provincial or territorial
building codes in a slightly different manner for the
same reason.

In addition, some provinces and territories have
developed a manual that provides information on the
capital planning process. Health care facilities must
follow this process when they embark on construction
or renovation projects to ensure that 1) resources
are used efficiently and effectively; 2) the approval
process is streamlined; and 3) the key participants'
roles and responsibilities are
identified(111). A list of the available
manuals is provided below. At the time of writing,
there were no capital planning process manuals
available for the Northwest Territories, British
Columbia, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, or
Newfoundland and Labrador. The reader is advised to
contact the provincial Ministry of Health to obtain
further information on the manuals or for specific
information on the process that should be followed if
no manual is available.
