Workshop on Male/Female Relationships - Optional Exercises

Here are further exercises which may be used in addition to those already offered in the workshop.

1. Exercise on stereotypes

The teacher gives every student an exercise sheet on which to determine whether the terms listed correspond to stereotypes or not. This exercise allows teachers to evaluate the level of comprehension of stereotypes of their students. Each student will be asked to write down his or her own results.

Length: 10 minutes

Teacher's role:

  • Answering questions
  • Reading out loud and explaining the instructions
  • Ensuring silence during the exercise

2. Presentation on communication

The teacher reiterates that expectations can lead to certain difficulties in relationships. Thus it becomes all the more important to develop one's communication skills. He/she then presents three different types of communication along with the attitudes associated with each. The teacher underlines the importance of firm communication and explains the advantages it offers:

  • Lesser risk of conflict
  • Mutual respect, therefore less frustration
  • Communication becomes more appropriate, honest and authentic, calmer, etc.

Length: 10 minutes

Teacher's role:

  • Offer clear and precise explanations
