Codes standing committee proposes recognition of insulated wall panels in Code The use of some types of metal-faced exterior wall panels insulated with foamed plastic is recognized in the National Building Code of Canada (NBC). A proposed change to include some other types of interior and exterior foamed-plastic insulated wall panels in the 1995 NBC was withdrawn in response to negative public comment.
To address these concerns, the Standing Committee on Fire Safety and Occupancy has proposed a change to the 1995 NBC that would allow the use of an increased number of foamed-plastic insulated wall and ceiling panels.
Code users are invited to review the proposed change and submit comments for review by the standing committee. After the committee has reviewed the comments, and made appropriate revisions, it will send the proposal to the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes for implementation.
The proposed change is available for review from the Canadian Codes Centre and can be found on the Commission's Web site where a form is included for submission of comments.
Responses should be returned no later than October 31, 1998.
