Federal-Provincial-Territorial Working Group on Access to Justice in Both Official Languages
The mandate of this working group is to identify issues on access to justice in both official languages and exchange information on the best practices and the initiatives in place in each of the jurisdictions. It is working on implementing solutions to help improve access to justice in both official languages in the various aspects of justice, especially criminal law, and is drawing the attention of the Deputy Ministers of Justice to issues related to access to justice in both official languages.
Role
- To examine the situation of the access to justice in both official languages in order to identify barriers and possible solutions;
- To act as a forum for discussing promising initiatives already in place in each of the jurisdictions represented in order to improve access to justice, particularly for official language minority communities;
- To inform the Deputy Ministers of Justice of the issues surrounding access to justice in both official languages.
