ALBERTA JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA, October 21, 2011 — The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

The Honourable Bruce A. Millar, a Provincial Court Judge in Calgary, is appointed a Judge of the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta (Calgary) to replace Mr. Justice C.S. Brooker, who elected to become a supernumerary judge as of June 20, 2011.

Mr. Justice Millar received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta in 1976, and was admitted to the Bar of Alberta in 1978.

Mr. Justice Millar was appointed to the Provincial Court in 2004. Prior to his appointment, his main areas of practice had been criminal prosecution/defence, civil litigation, family law and corporate law.

This appointment is effective immediately.
