Regulatory Initiative: Regulations Amending the Staturory Instruments Regulations - Forward Regulatory Plan 2012-2014

Title or working title of the regulatory initiative:

Regulations Amending the Staturory Instruments Regulations

Description of the objective:

The proposed amendments to the Statutory Instruments Regulations are consequential on the repeal of section 13 of the Statutory Instruments Act which relieved Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) of its obligation to deliver and sell paper copies of the Canada Gazette. This greening initiative is part of the Government's Sustainable Development Strategy.

This proposal deletes references in the Regulations to print copy of the Canada Gazette.

Enabling authority: s. 20 of the Statutory Instruments Act.

Indication of business impacts:

There are no expected business impacts.

Public consultation opportunities:

On April 13, 2012, an announcement was posted on the Canada Gazette Web site advising of the Budget 2012 decision to transition the publication of the Canada Gazette from traditional print to exclusively electronic publication.

Given the nature of this proposal no consultation took place. The regulatory amendments were made on April 25, 2013 and published in the Canada Gazette, Part II, on May 8, 2013.
