Knowledge Preservation

From November 28 to December 9, 2005, Montréal will host the United Nations Climate Change Conference. Delegates and the general public are invited to a number of activities, which will be held in conjunction with the conference.

As part of these activities, the Department of Canadian Heritage and Library and Archives Canada (LAC) will showcase Canada's rich culture and extensive knowledge base.

Through the Virtual Museum of Canada website (www.virtualmuseum.ca/English/index_flashFT.html), the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) and its 1,110 member museums promote the exchange and preservation of Canadian knowledge, heritage, culture, experience and skills. The Virtual Museum of Canada harnesses the power of the Internet to bring Canada's rich and diverse heritage to people in their homes, schools and workplaces.

LAC provides Canadians with easy, one-stop access to textual records, photographs and other documents that reflect Canada's cultural, social and political development. Working hand in hand with other libraries and archives, LAC continues to acquire and preserve Canada's documentary heritage, in all its forms, for current and future generations.

Visit the Knowledge Preservation kiosk at the Guy-Favreau Complex, 200 René-Lévesque Boulevard West, in Montréal, from November 28 to December 2, 2005.
