Library and Archives Canada congratulates the AV Preservation Trust of Canada as it celebrates its 10th anniversary. The Trust, whose mandate is to preserve and enhance access to the nation's audiovisual heritage, ensures that rich and varied collections of audiovisual materials are accessible to Canadians now and in the future.
The Trust has gained national recognition for its work in preservation. With the support of the Department of Canadian Heritage, it has funded 60 projects over the past 10 years. By providing financial assistance to other non-profit organizations in the areas of audiovisual restoration, preservation and education, the Trust helps to make Canada's recorded treasures accessible to all.
MasterWorks, an AV Trust program, recognizes vintage Canadian films, television and radio programs, music and sound recordings with an annual awards ceremony. This year marks a departure from tradition, as the Trust moves the venue for MasterWorks from Ottawa to Toronto. The ceremony will take place on October 26 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel; it will feature a full day of industry and public activities, ending with the awards presentation.

A founding and sustaining partner of the AV Preservation Trust, Library and Archives Canada is proud to have collaborated on the development of the RPM website with the Trust. This website traces the history of RPM Weekly, a newsletter about music charts founded by Stan Klees and Walt Grealis in 1964. The charts published in RPM Weekly were instrumental in shaping the face of the Canadian music industry.
Today, Canadians can once again browse through the pages of these weekly music charts, and researchers can survey the evolution of popular Canadian recording artists. The RPM website features every chart printed during the full publication run of RPM Weekly--over 10,000 charts--all of which can be accessed through a searchable database. This significant digital initiative preserves the legacy of its founders and offers unprecedented access to this important collection.
