Welcome
to LibraryNet!
Canadian
public libraries have been providing information, education, and recreation
to Canadians for over a century and a half. Today they are defining new
roles for themselves as economic incubators, community development agents,
distributors of electronic information, and centres for life-long learning.
The purpose of LibraryNet is to encourage the growth of these new roles
and to help Canadian libraries connect to the information highway and
to one another. This is a cooperative venture on the part of Canada's
public libraries, library jurisdictions and agencies, librarians, and
Industry Canada.
