October 14 , 2003: The LibraryNet Best Practice awards for 2003 have recently been announced. LibraryNet's annual "Best Practices" Report on Innovative Internet use in Canadian public libraries is written to provide trail-blazing libraries with recognition for their efforts, and to inspire other Canadian libraries to create their own Internet applications.

July 24, 2003: The Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library (PARL) has developed an exceptional Business Room service, which provides a host of local, provincial, and national resources for local businesses to create, establish, and develop their commercial endeavours. Recognizing the library as a local resource and economic catalyst, PARL shows the way with its Business Room web page and attendant guide for small and medium libraries. July 24, 2003 : LibraryNet has added a number of new reports regarding timely issues such as government online services and their impact on public libraries, the history and future of the library book rate, a Master's thesis detailing rural Nova Scotia's experience with Industry Canada's information highway and Community Access Program, and Internet usage in a variety of Canadian Public Libraries.

August 26, 2002 : The Finance Project The Finance Project is an American policy research and technical assistance organisation. It's digital divide pages provide links to pertinent articles, funding sources, organisations and foundations concerned with the issue, and to information on upcoming conferences and events.

August 23, 2002 : Francommunautés Virtuelles This Industry Canada program promotes the development and advancement of Canadian francophone ICT initiatives. As well, it provides funding on the local, regional, or national level.

August 22, 2002 : CNIB's VISUCAT CANADA The Canadian National Institute for the Blind provides a remotely accessable catalogue of over 60,000 titles in a variety of formats. Catalogues of partner libraries can also be searched.

August 20, 2002 : School Libraries Information Portal This site is a resource portal for teacher-librarians provided by the Canadian Library Association, the National Library of Canada, the Canadian School Library Association, and the Association for Teacher-Librarianship of Canada.

August 16, 2002 : UNESCO Libraries Portal This UNESCO site provides links to a wide variety of library resources and is geared towards the enahncement of ICT access and web-based resources.

August 12, 2002 : share the stories This link to the ABC CANADA Literacy Foundation highlights the ways and means of accessing funding (provided by Coca-Cola) for the development and maintenance of children's reading programs and collections.

July 8, 2002 : Created by University of Saskatchewan librarian Marian Dworaczek, the Subject Index to Literature on Electronic Sources of Information considers the range of electronically published materials, and provides both a bibliography and instructions for searching items.

July 5, 2002 : The National Library of Canada has issued a call for papers for its "The Fun Of Reading: International Forum On Canadian Children's Literature", a part of the library's 50th anniversary celebrations in 2003. Deadline for submission is October 15, 2002.

July 2, 2002 : Adaptive Technologies for universal access This collection of links assists web developers in creating sites of universal accessibility.

June 27, 2002 : Smart Communities Portal Development This Industry Canada site assists communities with the development and maintenance of a Smart Communities Portal. It examines that: "This tool channels the Internet user's enquiry more directly to the information they are seeking while at the same time opening a window for local commerce, e-government and on-line transactions".

June 27, 2002 : LibraryNet "Best Practices" criteria explains the criteria exployed by the LibraryNet Advisory council in choosing its annual "Best Practices" awards and provides examples of previous award-winning ideas.

June 18, 2002 : "Federal and provincial government links for business and consumers" provides libraries and library patrons with small business development links and resources on the provincial, regional, and national levels. Many of the links are portals that allow for extended information gathering.

June 18, 2002 : The "Tornos Tourism Report" discusses the interaction of local libraries and visiting tourists, examining both current practices and advising proposals for improved services.
