Did You Know...

that Dalhousie University has published an anthology on library development in the Third World? Edited by John A. Evans, Planning for Library Development: Third World Perspectives is a collection of essays by African and Asian authors who set out the current status of national information infrastructures and identify methods for developing or rewriting national information policies. Particular emphasis is placed on the role that libraries can play in the advancement of literacy and other aspects of local and national development. Community-based approaches are highlighted to show how successful development can be promoted. This volume is intended for those who are interested in the success of Third World development.
