Time's running out to register for the CCA's

2004 National Policy Conference

 

Ottawa , October 20, 2004 - CCA members and other interested individuals and groups should note that the deadline for registrations for From Act To Action: Moving Forward on Status of the Artist , the CCA's 2004 National Policy Conference is Friday, October 29th .

 

This date is also the deadline to reserve one of the limited number of rooms that has been reserved at a group rate at the Hotel Saskatchewan Radisson Plaza ( www.hotelsask.com , 1-800-333-3333 ext. 142, 2125 Victoria Avenue , Regina SK , S4P 0S3 ). The conference rate is $89.00 per night, single or double occupancy and is subject to applicable taxes. Accommodation arrangements are the responsibility of delegates. Reservations must be made before the deadline to qualify for the group rate, and the group rate is only available while space exists. Please quote "Canadian Conference of the Arts".

Background Documents

 

To get members and attendees prepared for conference, several background documents will be posted on www.ccarts.ca . Discussion documents relating to the workshops will be sent to participants once they make their workshop selection. These documents will also form part if the delegates conference kits on site. Good news for the conference venue

 

The host venue of this year's conference, the MacKenzie Art Gallery , was bestowed with the largest corporate donation in its history last week when it received 32 paintings worth more than $500,000 from the Crown Life Canadian Collection. The collection includes work by Canadian artists such as Robert Bateman, Joyce Wieland, and Jean McEwen. The collection is on display at the gallery until January 3rd. Arts and Learning Project

 

The CCA is pleased to announce the hiring of Denis Bertrand to the post of Project Coordinator for Arts and Learning: A Call to Action . He will begin work on the project on November 15th.

 

This project is a far reaching, coordinated effort between the CCA, the Canada Council for the Arts and the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, in collaboration with Canadian Public Arts Funders, the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada , and the Coalition for the Arts and Education.

 

Mr. Bertrand brings a wealth of experience to the position. In his previous position as General Manager of Théâtre Action, he created successful links between the theatre and school communities.
