Assists cultural organizations in Manitoba to identify their training needs (e.g., fundraising, marketing, etc.) and develop a training strategy, including the human resources required for implementation; helps them to create a funding proposal for the organization; and brings together organizations to contract the services of a common training coordinator. |

Alberta Performing Arts Stabilization Fund
|
A stabilization fund designed to improve the financial viability and self-reliance of Alberta-based professional performing arts organizations to allow their artistic missions to be advanced more fully. Included two programs: the Stabilization Awards Program for the province’s largest performing arts organizations, and the Advancement Grant Program for small and mid-sized performing arts organizations. Initiated in 1995 and now completed, the fund currently provides mentoring to new and emerging stabilization initiatives. |

Arts Stabilization Manitoba
|
A stabilization program established in 2001 to help not-for-profit Manitoba arts and cultural organizations attain and sustain financial stability. An advisory component allows organizations to draw on the advice of private sector management consultants to improve their business practices; the funding component provides working capital grants to organizations that have operated with a balanced budget at time of application, with satisfactory business plans which incorporate best business practices. An eligible organization’s accumulated deficit may not exceed 25% of its operating budget, and the organization must have a realistic plan to retire the deficit. Technical assistance is also provided. |

Canadian Arts and Heritage Sustainability Program: Stabilization Projects Capacity-Building Program |
Federal program to help professional not-for-profit arts and heritage organizations strengthen their financial and administrative operations and adopt sound practices in governance, strategic planning, and organizational effectiveness to increase their long-term ability to support their cultural mission. Stabilization projects are time-limited, multi-year projects for groups of eligible organizations which involve partnerships between governments and the private sector to strengthen the management, governance, and financial and planning abilities of the organizations. They include the provision of technical assistance (consultancy advice) and may include contributions toward deficit reduction and/or the creation of working capital reserves. The capacity-building program, available to organizations without access to a stabilization program and meeting program requirements, helps organizations improve their capacity to plan, organize, finance and govern themselves. Areas include business planning, revenue diversification, management practices, governance, and new collaborations. Provides partial funding for up to 2 years for consultants’ fees and expenses and directly related costs. |
